Experience one of Pakistan’s most spectacular trekking journeys, crossing the legendary mountain ranges of the Himalaya, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush. This adventure takes you from the Karakoram Highway to the lush alpine meadows of Fairy Meadows, the iconic Nanga Parbat Base Camp, and deep into the remote valleys of Naltar and Ishkoman via the stunning Pakhora Pass.

Trek Itinerary

Embark on a breathtaking journey through Pakistan’s three legendary mountain ranges. Trek to Fairy Meadows, Nanga Parbat Base Camp, cross Pakhora Pass, and explore Naltar & Ishkoman Valleys. Adventure, glaciers, alpine lakes, and mountain culture await!

Day 01 :
Arrival Islamabad

Altitude: 500 m
Arrival at Islamabad International Airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided city tour including Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa Museum, and a panoramic view from Daman-e-Koh. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 :
Islamabad – Chilas

Drive along the Karakoram Highway via Besham and Diamer Valley. Enjoy dramatic river gorges and mountain scenery.
Overnight: Hotel in Chilas

Day 03 :
Chilas – Fairy Meadows

Drive to Raikot Bridge, jeep ride to Tattu Village, then trek through pine forest to Fairy Meadows.
Overnight: Wooden huts / campsite

Day 04 :
Fairy Meadows – Nanga Parbat Base Camp – Fairy Meadows

Day hike to Nanga Parbat Base Camp with breathtaking views of glaciers and the massive Rupal Face. Return to Fairy Meadows.
Overnight: Fairy Meadows

Day 05 :
Fairy Meadows – Gilgit

Descend to Raikot Bridge and drive to Gilgit, the capital of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Overnight: Hotel in Gilgit

Day 06 :
Gilgit – Naltar Valley

Drive to Naltar Valley, famous for alpine lakes, forests, and snow-capped peaks.
Overnight: Guesthouse / camp

Day 07 :
Naltar-Lower Shani

It takes 6 hours if you start trek from other village otherwise, we can drive 12 km in jeep it takes about one hour more or less to 7 color Kutu Lake surrounded by birch trees then start trek from here to the Lower Shani will take 4-5 hours along the Naltar River passing through thick forest and Gujar settlements with awesome views all the way the walk is quite smooth. Ahead the views of numerous snow-capped peaks are eye-catching. Shani Peak 5,887m, the dramatic triple headed Twins 5,798 and 5,700m visible further north, many more to see. We will camp at Lower Shani at 3,800m, quite lush, fed by a small stream edge with flowers; pink bistort, purple geraniums, blue gentians, white edelweiss and many more. Herds of animals roam the hillsides.  

Day 08 :
Lower Shani-Upper Shani

5-6 hours continue on a good path along the edge of the Shani Glacier for two hours and then another 3 hours to Upper Shani is completely ascending, climbing straight ahead with zigzagged path through knee-deep flowers (during mid-July to August) and up a wide grassy shoulder. You come out on a big plateau featuring herds grazing yaks, cows and horses. There are several beautiful campsites with clear streams and spring water and great views of overhanging seracs. Camp at 4,100 meters on the plateau with exciting views the night will be about 10C.

Day 09 :
Upper Shani- Kriue Borth Crossing Naltar Pass 8 Hour

 6-8 hours the first two hours to climb up with stones and snow takes you to the flat top of the pass from where we have mind-blowing views of snow covering mountains in a distance to the northeast over Passu in Hunza. From the pass you will continue to drop down towards Pakhora Ishkoman all the way descending on the glacier for two hours and then on the crest of the moraine down to Kuriu Borth. The usual campsite is at about 3,900m nearby a big red stone that gives the name kurui Borth (red stone in Khowar Language is spoken in Ishkoman). Here it is better to move down another one hour to UCh, a beautiful place with Lush green meadows in a thick forest of pine, birch and willow trees. Overnight stay.

Day 10 :
Kriue Borth- Chatorkhand Ishkoman 6 Hour

Five hours descending the two hours along the trees and then on a clear donkey path all the way down narrow gorge winding and zigzags. The river stays down to your right there are several small waterfalls along the way. Pakhora is the largest village in Ishkoman. We will drive down to Chatorkhan for an overnight stay in a hotel to relax after this tiring trek. Hot shower and washing in the beautiful Garden of Royal Guest House. A hearty traditional dinner and then a musical night singing songs and dancing (if you are interested) a bone fire in a beautiful Royal Garden. Overnight in sweet dreams.

Day 11 :
Free Day In Birgal Chator Khand Ishkoman

You will have a two hour walk to Dain Water Fall above the village or you can hire a car if you wish. It is worth visiting here to interact with local people to explore the life of the mountain communities of Hidukush. The views from the waterfall are dramatic because you can see Hindukush and Karakoram mountains both. Overnight stay in the Guest House.

Here we offer several hiking and trekking within the valley and traverse routes to side valleys in the surrounding. 

Day 12 :
Chatorkhand-Charunji 6 Hour

An hour drive to Asumbar and trek to Charunji 5-6 hours ascending on a clear path passing through summer villages. The stream flowing down along your side is heart-touching. There is a thick forest along the way, stunning views of tiny peaks and meadows. Camp at Charunji 3,600 meters. Overnight stay in a tent.

Day 13 :
Charunji-Janali Gari 5 Hour

Enjoy a captivating trek along small streams and stunning vistas as you ascend toward Janali. Along the way, you’ll pass the Gujar Nomads’ huts at Bortha Borthi, famous for their iconic large stone. Continuing further, the Asumbar Pass comes into view, marking your approach to the next campsite.

Arrive at Janali, a beautiful green flatland whose name means "playground" in the local language. According to local lore, shepherds once played polo here, adding to its unique charm. This alpine region, above the tree line, offers a surreal landscape of colorful rock formations and hanging glaciers.

Spend the night in a tent, surrounded by the pristine beauty of this remarkable place.

Day 14 :
Janali Gari-Jiji Shawaran/Mayur Across Asumbar Pass 7 Hour

Trek to Mayur ascending 400 m up smoothly to the pass 4,410m. Then descending down to the lush green meadows with willow bushes. The highest point of your trek at the Asumber Pass from where we can have a panoramic of snow-capped peaks and dramatic plateaus around. Above all, in a distance we would see the highest mountain of Hindukush Trichmir 7,870 meters, and other numerous peaks above 5000 meters in the surrounding.  Mayur is beautiful place with couple of summer huts where a stream joins from the east Mayur Lake to Asumbar Stream that gives an awe-inspiring attraction of the landscape here. Overnight stay in tent.

Day 15 :
Mayur-Sandi Yasin 6 Hour

Descent to Sandhi and Yasin Valley Highlights

Descend through the scenic Asumbar Valley to Sandhi and Yasin, passing summer houses with herds of goats, fields of wheat, and barley. The trail narrows into a stunning valley, leading to the jeep road near Sandi Village, where we’ll visit the historic Mudori Fort. A short climb offers panoramic views of the picturesque Yasin Valley. Overnight in hotel

Day 16 :
Yasin-Gilgit

It is an exciting day drive 4 hours along charismatic village of Ghizer Valley to Gilgit. We stop for photos and tea on the way. Overnight stay in Hotel

Day 17 :
Gilgit – Islamabad
Day 18 :
Free day in Islamabad

Visit to the historical sites of Pakistan and twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi

Day 19 :
Departure to Sweet Home

What is the difficulty level of this trek?

Easy trek all the way with normal experience trekkers can go on this beautiful trek.

What is the best season for this adventure?

June to October, when trails are clear and weather is favorable.

Do I need previous trekking experience?

Previous trekking experience is recommended but not mandatory. Our guides provide support throughout the trek.

How high is Pakhora Pass?

It is 4,700m easy approach from Naltar and descending to Ishkoman Valley involves 2 hours easy glacier walking.

Is this trek suitable for solo travelers?

Yes, but group trekking is preferred for safety in remote areas.

What are the other essentials to know before planning a visit to Pakistan?

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

PASSPORT AND VISA

Participants of all nationalities are required to have a valid passport with six months remaining validity and a visa for Pakistan. Visas must be applied online at https://visa.nadra.gov.pk/   

The main category is MOUNTAINEERING & TREKKING and the sub-category is TREKKING. You will need a letter of invitation (LOI) which our office will provide along with the requisite documents like Trips Nomad Adventure (TNA) license copy and National Identity Card of the issuing authority. 

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND A VISA FOR PAKISTAN. 


TREKKING PERMIT

Some Treks in Pakistan fall in the restricted areas, a trekking permit is required and the security clearance process usually takes 30-45 days. It is high recommended to apply at least 60 days in advance to delays. Your application for visa is linked with the application for the trekking permit.

PERSONAL INSURANCE

As the trip is of strenuous nature, it is a mandatory requirement to have an insurance policy for accidents, medical and helicopter evacuation covering at least $ 30,000. DRESS

In the cities like Islamabad, there is no problem if you are in western dress but in remote regions including Skardu, you will need to have a full dress (covering your body)


LOCAL CREW

The local crew includes a licensed guide, cook, assistant cook, porter’s Sirdar, and porters. Our guides and cooks are well-experienced, strong, supportive and friendly. They performed their duties with full dedication to facilitate our valued clients.    

GROUP JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

The tour starts and ends in Islamabad. TNA, guide or representative will be at the airport to pick the clients with the welcome signboard of TNA.  We can also make reservations for pre and post nights if anyone arriving early or departing late.

BOOKING & DEPOSITS

The trip can be reserved upon as an initial deposit of 50% one month before arrival. The initial deposit shall not be refunded but can be transferred for a future trip.

FINAL PAYMENT

We accept full trip cost before the commencement of the tour. The payments are only accepted in cash/bank transfers in bank account. We don’t accept payments through credit cards. Please do not accept any invoice which is not generated by Trips Nomad Adventure and sent through official email ID.

1) Cancellations must be notified in writing to Trips Nomad Adventure or the agent through which the trip is booked. Cancellation charges shall be levied as follows:

  1. Cancellation before 30 days or more-After a deduction of the 10%, the remaining amount will be refunded. If the deposit is retained with the consent of our client no cancellation charges will be applied. The full amount will be adjusted with a future trip.
  2. Cancellation within 2 weeks before departure –50 % of the package offer
  3. Cancellation within one week of departure or no show –Loss of full payment

2) There shall be no refunds if you leave the trip for any reason whatsoever, either voluntarily or involuntarily, after the trip has begun. No refunds shall be made for any meals, accommodation or services not utilized
